DRI PLANT (using the global method of midrex)
The plant comprises of three production units with production capacity of the two units I and II ( 1,100,000 ) tonnes per annum of sponge iron (DRI) and started the commercial operation of the two units on 3/28/1990.
The third unit with a production capacity of ( 650,000 tons) per year of hot briquetted iron (HBI), The unit has entered the stage of commercial operation on 13.11.1997. The total design production capacity of the direct reduction plant is ( 1,750,000 ) tons per year.
STEEL PLANTS
Steel Plant No.1: the plant entered stage of commercial operation on 10/16/1989 with an annual designed production capacity of ( 670,000 ) tonnes of liquid steel to produce ( 630,000 tons) of billets and blooms, and during the year 2008 was the completion of the expansion of the plant to reach annual designed capacity of about ( 1,060,000 tons) , and the plant uses three (3) electrical arc furnaces each with a capacity of ( 90 tons).
Steel Plant No. 2 : the plant entered the stage of commercial operation in 1991 with an annual design production capacity of ( 650,000 ) tonnes of liquid steel to produce ( 611,000 ) tons per year of slabs , using (3) electric arc furnaces each with a capacity of ( 90 tons)
BARS AND ROD MILL
the plant consists of two lines to Produce bars with designed capacity of ( 400,000 ) tons of barsfirst line wascommissioned on 12.10.1988 while the second line on 18/02/1989 also in 1997 double strand line was implemented , with an annual designed capacity of ( 400,000 tons) , it has started operation on 27/05/1998
LIGHT AND MEDIUM SECTIONS MILL
Entered the stage of commercial operation on 08/04/1989 with an annual designed production capacity of ( 120,000 tons) of light and medium sections in various sizes and dimensions.
HOT STRIP MILL
The annual designed capacity of the plant is ( 580,000 tons) of hotrolled coils and entered commercial operation on 05/10/1989.
COLD STRIP MILL
statred commercial operation on 20/01/1990 with an annual design production capacity of (140,000 ) tons of cold rolled coils
GALVANIZING AND PAINT COATED LINES
The line is one of the expansion projects aimed at diversifying the company’s products and improving quality with production capacity of ( 80,000 tonnes) of galvanized coils per annum, and another painted coils line with an annual designed production capacity of ( 40,000 tons) has entered the stage of commercial operation on 02/09/1998.
LIME AND DOLOMITE PLANT
supplies the company’s plants needs of limestone and dolomite with an annual production capacity of ( 88,000 tons) and the processing of these raw materials is as required sizes at the sedada quarry , which is 140 km to the east of the city of Misrata
New Bar Mill Plant
The Plant Consists of one bar production line with designed production capacity of (800) thousand tons a year of different bar sizes (8-40 mm) using billets of (130 mm – 150 mm) size ,we must mention that the operations and tests all are done by Libyan teams during June 2017
